DIY Shelf

Lately I've discovered that I am really into the Bohemian style. Things like bright colors, cool patterns, distressed wood, and mis-matched stuff. I've seen a really cute shelf idea in a couple of magazines that I really want to try. First, you go to DI (Deseret Industries) or the Salvation Army or someplace like that and find a short old wooden ladder. You can use either side (of rungs), or you can use the whole thing. You paint it a bright color such as turquoise, lime green, orange, or even white, and then you distress it to let some of the natural wood show through. If you are only using one side you can lean it against the wall or if you have an A-frame you can just use it as a free standing shelf. You can't really stack anything on it, but you can hang scarves, bags, or even magazines. It looks super cute and stylish. I haven't tried it yet, but when I do I'll post pictures so you can see the process. I have my dad looking for an old ladder on his frequent trips to the DI, so as soon as he finds one I'll try it out.

How to transform an old bag

Have you ever wanted a new bag but couldn't afford one? These are some quick and easy tips on how to give an old bag a face lift.

1st- Get an old bag
2nd- Find a cute scarf/flower/broach- whatever you like
3rd- Tie or clip it on and you have an updated bag!

It's super easy and takes only a little bit of time. You can switch out the accessories on your bag whenever you need a change. It's a way to personalize your purse without spending any money.

Colored Eggs

The best thing about Easter, for me, is the eggs. This is the first year that I actually remember dying them. It was so much fun! I love all the colors they can be and the designs you can draw on them if you are skilled enough, (which  I am not). I was thinking that it would be SO cool to be able to have colored eggs all year round. That way you could be happy whenever you go to grab an egg out of the fridge. Just seeing the bright colors instantly cheers me up. So, I've decided from here on out to color all my boiled eggs. A tip for coloring eggs- when you put them in the dyed water add some white vinegar to help them stay bright.

My Favorite Book

http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/B000NIJ46A/ref=sib_dp_pt#reader-link                                                My favorite book has got to be Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. For me to have a favorite book is pretty crazy, because I have read hundreds of books. I am an avid reader, who can go through at least two 200 page books in a day. My favorite genres are fantasy and historical fiction, and have read pretty much everything I can get my hands on. I'm also leaning more towards reading the classics, like Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Anyways, back to Princess Academy. It is a fantastic book that is full of excitement and the events building up to the main character finding herself. I picked it up realizing I had left it halfway through, so I finished it and started it again right after! It's really that good. :) I recommend it to anyone that needs a great book to read. ***Click on the link to see the book***
